Beet and Yogurt Recipe from Indian Raita Recipes

Though there are many recipes made with beetroot, this beet raita recipe is a very easy recipe.

Use tender beets for best taste. You can use raw beetroot or cooked beetroot for this raita.

In the recipe given below, we are using raw beet. It is one of the Indian raita recipes.

How to make beetroot raita

Ingredients to make beetroot raita for 2 servings

  • Tender beetroot - 1
  • Fresh yogurt - 1 cup
  • Table Salt or rock salt - 1/4 tsp or according to taste
  • Black pepper powder - 1/4 tsp or according to taste
  • Fresh Cilantro (Coriander) leaves - 1 tbsp

Preparation before making beetroot raita

  1. Wash and peel the beetroot.
  2. Grate beetroot with a fine grater.
  3. Chop finely the cilantro leaves.

Making beetroot raita

  1. Take the fresh yogurt in a bowl and beat lightly.
  2. Add grated beetroot, salt and pepper powder, chopped cilantro leaves.
  3. Mix well.
  4. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or longer till mealtime.

Beetroot raita is ready to serve.

Serving suggestions

You may serve it as a healthy breakfast accompaniment with a whole wheat bread toast.

You may also serve it as a accompaniment for any rice recipe.

It is a good dish to serve for a party as you can make it in advance. Serve it with rice or as a dip with vegetable sticks or bread sticks.
