What is indigestion?

What is indigestion? and what is dyspepsia? Let us take a look.

Indigestion and dyspepsia mean the same thing. It is a very general description of different stomach problems. The general term 'Indigestion' means that the food has not been digested properly.

We feel hungry and we eat. After we eat or drink, most of the time, we are not even aware that the food which we ate is being digested. That means our digestion is good.

Digestion is an automatic action our body takes after a meal. After you swallow your food, you do not need to do anything. Things happen on their own.

But sometimes after you eat, you know that things are not right in the stomach. You may feel the indigestion symptoms such as a bloated feeling, feel heartburn, and feel pain in the stomach, get headache, excessive gas.

Indigestion makes a person feel sick, causes discomfort, and pain because the food eaten is not digested properly.

The causes for indigestion

  • food : what you ate, how much you ate and how you ate, at what time you ate.
  • It may be because of too much or too little acid in the stomach, which may be caused by eating too spicy foods,
  • irregular meal timings
  • wrong eating techniques.
  • bad habits related to foods and wrong choice of foods.
  • It may be how you were feeling at the time of your meal, stressed, hurried, unhappy. Stress can also cause heartburn indigestion.
