Healthy Breakfast Ideas - Vegetarian Breakfast

Healthy breakfast foods are a must for a good start to your day and to get through the whole day. Breakfast is a must do thing in the morning.

There are many who make do with coffee for breakfast. Some people do take breakfast but they consume either some fried foods (such as doughnuts) or sugar loaded (such as ready to eat cereals). And you know that is not healthy breakfast though that will fill your stomach.

Most skip breakfast because they do not have time to prepare or even to have breakfast when it is ready.

Once you understand the importance of breakfast for good health, you are likely to make time for it. Either by getting up 10-15 minutes early (that’s enough time to make a simple breakfast if you already have a breakfast plan) or by preparing it earlier and just reheating it.

Given below are some vegetarian breakfast foods. You can make your healthy breakfast recipes using these healthy foods.

Healthy breakfast foods

  • Milkshakes and smoothies - As these are made with fruits and vegetables, you can add these to your breakfast. Filling as well as healthy. Some of them will control your acid indigestion and heartburn too.
  • Oatmeal is one of the best breakfast foods. You can use rolled or steel cut as that is more nutritious. But then even instant oatmeal is better than not having breakfast. Read about How to cook oatmeal porridge
  • Whole wheat bread adds the much required fiber to your breakfast.
  • Fresh fruits, any seasonal fruits are good. Add fiber and nutrition to your diet. Fruits are easy on digestion too.
  • Eggs are good to fill you up. Have hard boiled eggs or You may have them scrambled with your whole wheat bread toast. Add a few vegetables when you make your scrambled eggs. You may also have only the egg whites.
  • Low fat cottage cheese adds taste to your whole wheat bread toast or you may add it to your fruit or have it by itself.
  • Whole grains add fiber and carbs to your breakfast. You may have them in the form of breads, bran muffins, pancakes etc.
  • Cereal - choose a high fiber and whole grain cereal. Do not use the boxed, high sugar cereal. It is more expensive as well as not so nutritious for you. Add low fat milk(dairy or coconut or soy milk) as you prefer. Add a little honey instead of sugar if you can.
