Bad Eating Habit
Though any digestive problem may be a result of wrong foods, you may be having a
bad eating habit that is causing you heartburn indigestion.
Here is a list of some unhealthy eating habits.
Eating packaged/precooked meals most of the time - packaged meals
may be processed foods and that can add to your digestive woes. You may be missing on
the healthy fresh salads and nutritious vegetables. Home cooking is always best.
Snacking of unhealthy foods - you may be snacking on unhealthy foods
if you don't know what are the ingredients of that pack. May be there is added sugar, salt or fat in it
Eating late - is one of the bad eating habit that can cause havoc with your digestion. You
need to eat 2-3 hours before bedtime to give time for food to digest.
Eating fast - when you swallow food fast, you
may not be chewing it properly. You also may overeat when you eat fast
as it takes some time for the brain to get the message that the stomach
is full and you would have already eaten more than necessary.
Eating in hurry - again when you are in hurry,
you are not likely to chew food well. Not chewing food properly - Some just swallow food
without chewing it as a habit even when they are not eating fast or are in a hurry.
Drinking more water just before or during a meal. - You may be diluting
the digestive juices by drinking more water just before or during a meal. It is ok to take
a few sips if necessary. You should ideally drink water an hour before a meal.
Not drinking enough fluids - you need to drink
at least 8 glasses of water per day. Not drinking enough can cause constipation.
Drinking sodas, caffeinated drinks - this can
affect your digestion. May produce too much stomach acid.
Eating carefully during weekdays and then binging on weekends. - many
do not realize the ill effects of doing this. They think they are controlling their
food intake the whole week will help them in weight loss. But binging on weekends will
take away all the benefit of that weekdays food control.
Mindless eating - If you have a habit of eating
while you are doing something else, such as watching TV or reading
something , you may overeat, or may not chew food properly.
Eating too many sweets, sugar containing things - this reduces the fat burning.
